Since the tank is open at the top, we have :
Area of sheet required = Surface area of the tank
$$\begin{array}{rl}& =lb+2\left(bh+lh\right)\\ & =\left[30\times 20+2\left(20\times 12+30\times 12\right)\right]{\text{m}}^2\\ & =\left(600+1200\right){\text{m}}^2\\ & =1800{\text{m}}^2\end{array}$$
Length of sheet required :
$$\begin{array}{rl}& =\left(\frac{\text{Area}}{\text{Width}}\right)\\ & =\frac{1800}{3}m\\ & =600m\end{array}$$
∴ Cost of the sheet
= Rs. (600 × 10)
= Rs. 6000
