Q854

Genetic material of CaMV is

A.
ss RNA
B.
ds RNA
C.
ss DNA
D.
ds DNA
Answer

Answer: Option D

Solution

Answer: Option D
Solution:
The genetic material of CaMV is ds DNA.
Cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) is a member of the genus Caulimovirus, one of the six genera in the family Caulimoviridae, which are pararetroviruses that infect plants.
CaMV contains a circular double-stranded DNA molecule of about 8.0 kilobases, interrupted by nicks that result from the actions of RNAse H during reverse transcription.
The CaMV genome consists of approximately 8,000 base pairs of circular, double-stranded DNA. The genome encodes seven genes (gene I to gene VII), also called P1 to P7 for encoded proteins 1-7.
