Four to five years after plantation, date palm trees are ready for the first harvest. Fruits are harvested at three stages, Khalal or Doka stage (fresh fruits), soft or ripen stage (pind or Tamar), and dry stage (chuhhara).
The Doka stage is 13 - 17 weeks after pollination. The fruit is Hard, yellow pink or red and may be sweet or astringent.
