Pseudoculus (plural pseudoculi, Latin oculus 'eye') is the name applied to various eye-like structures which are nevertheless not eyes. Amongst the organisms possessing pseudoculi are Protura, which their function is not well-known.
The Protura, or proturans, and sometimes nicknamed coneheds, are very small, soil-dwelling animals, so inconspicuous they were not noticed until the 20th century. The head is conical and bears two pseudoculi with unknown functions.
