According to the question,
(x + x + 2 + x + 4) - $$\frac{(x+x+2+x+4)}{3}$$
$$\frac{3(3x+6)-(3x+6)}{3}$$    = 28
2 (3x + 6) = 28 × 3
3x + 6 = 42
3x = 36
x = 12
