Let the number be x
Then,
$$\begin{array}{rl}& \iff 2x+3\times 42=238\\ & \iff 2x+126=238\\ & \iff 2x=112\\ & \iff x=56\end{array}$$
∴ Required sum :
$$\begin{array}{rl}& =3x+2\times 42\\ & =3\times 56+2\times 42\\ & =168+84\\ & =252\end{array}$$
