Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology, Tumkur

Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology, Tumkur has a boys hostel. The CIT Tumkur boys hostel is located on-campus.  The boys' hostel is managed by a warden who is assisted by a deputy warden who lives on the hostel premises. The hostel rooms are all well-furnished, and healthy food is served. Various facilities are available in the CIT Tumkur boys’ hostel such as healthy and hygienic food, pure drinking water, TV and reading room, vehicle parking and round the clock security enabled with CCTV.

CIT Tumkur has a separate hostel for girls. The CIT Tumkur girls’ hostel is located off-campus. The girls’ hostel is managed by a warden assisted by a deputy warden residing within the hostel premises. The rooms of the girls’ hostel are well furnished and healthy food is served.  Several facilities like healthy and hygienic food, pure drinking water, TV and reading room, vehicle parking and round the clock security enabled with CCTV are available in the CIT Tumkur girls’ hostel.

Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology, Tumkur has a health care centre. It is managed by a medical officer supported by one paramedical and other staff. It has two beds for patients. The health care centre serves as a referral centre for the whole campus.

Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology, Tumkur has a fitness centre well-equipped with a range of free weights. The CIT Tumkur gym has various equipment for students and staff for building strength, burning fat, improving general fitness, or for specific sports conditioning.

CIT Tumkur has a library that has a large collection of books, journals, references, periodicals, general books,  etc. The institute has a digital library that functions like a self-learning centre in which students and staff have access to several online e‐journals, placement papers of different companies, technical and so skills material. The CIT library has well-trained employees that provide a wide range of information services to students and staff.

The Physical Education department is dedicated and has a strong team of trainers and students. It has a large area for outdoor activities as well as a well-equipped infrastructure for indoor games. Sports and extracurricular activities are held at the institute. Students are encouraged to participate in intercollegiate athletics, co-curricular activities, and cultural events. The department of physical education provides outdoor sports facilities for games like football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, lawn tennis, throwball, kabaddi, bass badminton, kho‐kho. It also provides equipment for indoor games like table tennis, chess, carroms etc.

CIT has well-established computer centres that house over 950 computer systems that are linked through LAN. A leased connection with a speed of 100 Mbps is available round the clock. CIT is a Wi-Fi enabled campus. A dedicated internet browsing lab with high-end computers is provided 24x7 for the benefit of students. The IT facilities available on the campus are a 24×7  Wi-Fi facility, on-premises cloud set-up, ample LCD projectors, video conferencing unit.

Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology, Tumkur has a well-maintained cafeteria. The hygienically maintained cafeteria serves the needs of the faculty and students. It provides nutritious and well-balanced meals throughout the day.

Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology, Tumkur has a well-furnished auditorium that can accommodate more than 500 students. The CIT Tumkur is centrally located on the campus. Guest lectures, technical seminars, pre-placement training, and extra-curricular activities are all held in the auditorium on a regular basis.

CIT Tumkur owns several buses that transport staff and students from various parts of the city to the campus. There are 26 buses specifically designated for transportation. The buses pick up students and staff from a number of centralised points throughout the city, close to many residential areas.

The college has a good networking for the alumni association.

The entire CIT Tumkur campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Wi-Fi is available for students to use on their laptops both on campus and in the hostel for academic purposes. Wi-Fi and 34-Mbps internet connectivity is available across the campus (including the boys' hostel). WI-Fi has been installed in the library's reading areas to allow for wireless access to the internet.

Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology has departmental laboratories. Students can gain practical understanding beyond theoretical knowledge in the departmental based laboratories. The laboratories are well equipped with the latest technologies and equipment.

Tumkur Merchants Credit Cooperative (TMCC) has a branch on campus for all faculty members and students. The State Bank of Mysore operates an ATM machine on campus for the convenience of students and staff.

Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology has spacious and well-equipped classrooms. Each classroom is well-lit and has seating for more than 80 students. The seating arrangement allows students to have uninterrupted views of the teachers and instructional tools from all sides. CIT has integrated technology into most of the classrooms to improve the presentation of course material. Many of the classrooms have an LCD projector installed on the ceiling.

Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology has a Consumers Co-Operative Society Store for stationeries, educational aids and it also provides a xerox/ copier facility for the benefit of the students and staff members.
