College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Mizoram

The College has 4 Hostels for Undergraduate students, 2 each for boys, with a total capacity of 138 boys, respectively. All the hostels are fully furnished and have sufficient recreational facilities. To promote good reading habits, Hostel Libraries are also established separately in Boys’ Hostels, where 10 copies of the standard textbook in all disciplines have been provided. Further, construction of a Boys’ Hostel is in progress and will be ready within a year. The new Boys’ Hostel under construction can accommodate 38 students on twin twin-sharing basis.

All the hostels are fully furnished and have sufficient recreational facilities. To promote good reading habits, Hostel Libraries are also established separately in Girls’ Hostels, where 10 copies of the standard textbook in all disciplines have been provided.

The college has a Gym facility for the students.

The College has a good collection of reading materials in the form of books, journals, bulletins, etc. It subscribes to 32 National Journals and 14 International Journals. The library procures the latest edition of books/publications from different sources. It also provides a Reference Retrieval System/Facility through CD-ROM and print-outs. A reprography facility is also available in the Library to cater to the photocopying needs of the students and staff.

The College has a modern and state-of-the-art sports complex to cater to the needs of students and staff. A small playground is also available for outdoor games within the Sports Complex.

The College is connected to the Internet through V-SAT. Twenty computers are available in the Computer Laboratory attached to the Department of Animal Genetics & Breeding. The Computer Laboratory is provided with a 10 KVA online UPS for 24 hours of power backup.

The college has a canteen facility for staff and students.

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

The College has a well-furnished Guest house with 2 VIP Suites and 7 Deluxe (Double-bedded) rooms. The Guest House has a spacious Dining Room and a furnished Conference Room. It also houses the Vice-Chancellor’s Camp Office.

The College has a well-furnished Laboratory Animal House to breed and maintain Laboratory animals such as mice, rats, guinea pigs and rabbits as a Resource Unit to meet the requirements of Laboratory animals for different Departments for teaching and research purposes.

The college has a health centre with a first aid facility for the students.
