Deshbandhu College for Girls, Kolkata

The college provides a well-equipped students’ hostel within the college premises built with a grant from the UGC. The rooms, accommodating at least 4 students in each, are spacious and airy with a bed, a study table, a steel wardrobe, and a wall-mounted book self for each student. The hostel has a 24hr water supply and other amenities. The food served is of standard quality. The hostel is under efficient and round-the-clock security.

The College library has a stock of approximately 20,000 books to which new books are added every year. Encyclopedias, Handbooks, Yearbooks, Census Reports, Gazettes, and a collection of classics in Bengali and English are the special attractions of the library. There is also a special collection of books on Women’s Studies. Each of the honors departments has a separate departmental library.

The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility. There are 2 computer laboratories in the college equipped with more than 30 computers. Students from the Department of Commerce, geography, and BBA use the computer Laboratories on a regular basis. The geography department additionally has a well-equipped laboratory.

The college has a sports facility. The College encourages students to participate in sports and games. A wide range of events is held on the annual Annual sports day where students, as well as members of the teaching and non-teaching staff, participate enthusiastically.

The college has good networking for the Alumni association.

The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students. There are 2 computer laboratories in the college equipped with more than 30 computers.

The college provides a medical facility. Sick students are treated by Doctors on call and in cases of emergency sick students are taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

 The college has a parking space facility for its faculty, staff, and students.

The college has a Classroom facility for students.

The college has a Club facility for students.

The college has encouraged extracurricular activities like NSS, NCC, Arts and crafts, Etc.

The college has Motive of the placement cell is to act as a facilitator to arrange campus visits and coordinate the recruitment process of the prospective employers of graduating students of the college.
