Girls Hostel
The college provides a separate girls’ hostel. The girls’ hostel of GIMT Guwahati has 116 double-bedded rooms inside the campus. Two hostel wardens are in charge of the GIMT Guwahati girls' hostel.
Medical/Hospital
The college has medical care facilities for students and staff members. A registered medical practitioner is available for medical needs, and a nurse is appointed for emergency medical care. The Government Medical Hospital, Azara, Guwahati-17, is only 500m away from the institute. In the case of an emergency, patients are taken to a hospital by the medical emergency van. Under the Pradhanmantri Jana Aushadhi Scheme, the institute has opened a medical shop on the campus premises.
Library
The college has a well-maintained library. The central library is renamed Bina Chowdhury Central Library (BCCL). The Central Library occupies a total floor area of more than 600 square meters, including a large reading room that can accommodate at least 100 people for self-study. The functioning of the library is computerized with integrated library management software. The GIMT Guwahati Library has national and international periodicals (IEEE, ASPP) in both printed and online formats for the benefit of students and faculty. Sports
GIMT Guwahati has sports facilities for students. The college provides various sports equipment that is available for students on the campus premises.
I.T Infrastructure
The college computing infrastructure covers more than 300 square metres and has approximately 200 machines running Windows XP/Vista and Linux operating systems. All of the computers are based on Pentium IV and Dual Core technology and connected to a wireless LAN via a central server that can work on multiple platforms. All computers have access to the internet, which has a total bandwidth of more than 100 Mbps.
Cafeteria
The college has a well-equipped canteen. The canteen serves hygienic breakfast, lunch, tea, and snacks to students, teachers, and staff members at reasonable prices. The area of the GIMT Guwahati canteen is more than 400 square metres to cater to the needs of more than 2000 students of the institute. The canteen facility also caters to special functions scheduled at various times, with specialised food items available as needed.
Auditorium
The college has a well-equipped auditorium and seminar halls. The auditorium is equipped with audiovisual facilities to meet the needs of the academic departments of the institute. The auditorium and seminar hall enable the institute to host national-level conferences, workshops, and seminars on the campus premises. GIMT conducts national-level conferences on several disciplines with a seating capacity of 200 people in the seminar hall.
Transport Facility
The college has more than 15 vehicles to cater to the needs of the students, instructors, and staff. Bus service is provided by GIMT along specific routes from the city to the college and back. Students at the institute have access to transportation via different routes. Moreover, small cars are utilised for the day-to-day activities of the institute.
Laboratories
The college contains six laboratories, each with approximately 170 PCs that run Linux and Windows and have adequate software support. The majority of machines are wirelessly networked and linked to a broadband internet connection. The department also has access to the common laboratory facilities of the institute. The department has well-equipped laboratories in the fields of VLSI, DSP, and fibre optics, as well as other fundamental laboratories required for conducting course-related experiments.
Banks/ATMs
The college's collaboration with the State Bank of India, Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology, Guwahati, has introduced the ATM facility to meet the financial needs of students, faculty members, and employees. The ATM is available to students 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Parking Facility
The college has a parking space facility for its faculty, staff, and students. This facility is for those who come to the college from their own vehicle and need a safe area to park it.
Gym
The college has a well-equipped gym on campus. The gymnasium includes modern equipment for workouts. Gym trainers are available to guide the students.
Classrooms
The college has 50 well-equipped classrooms and tutorial rooms. The classrooms have sufficient numbers of furniture and fixtures. GIMT Guwahati classrooms are equipped with green boards, blackboards, or whiteboards with a platform for conducting lectures by faculty members and instructors. There are also model classrooms (smart classrooms) that are outfitted with LCD projectors, smart boards, and audio equipment.
Workshops
The central workshop, measuring 450 sq. m., has been equipped to provide all the facilities for the basic training of the engineering students in turning, machining & welding, fitting, carpentry and blacksmithy trades. The facilities of the workshop are also utilised for making models and others. for students’ project works and minor repair works of the college's fleets of transports, constructional works requirements and meeting the needs of other departments / laboratories of the college. It also facilitates interest in some modification works on existing equipment, and the students develop habits and much-needed interest in such activities.
Extra Curricular Activities
The college has an extracurricular activities facility for all students. GIMT Guwahati encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities to expand their social networking.
Training and Placement Cell
The college has a training and placement cell that came into existence in August 2009. Right from its inception, the Cell is actively involved in building an interface between academia and corporate houses by organising various seminars, pre-placement talks, workshops, training programmes, summer placements, and others.
