Government Arts College, Chidambaram

The Tamil Nadu Welfare Department manages three separate hostels on the Government Arts College Chidambaram campus. These include accommodations for OBC students, SC/ST male students, and a dedicated hostel for PG students. Each hostel ensures basic facilities for residents.

A dedicated women’s hostel near the campus is run by the Tamil Nadu Welfare Department. The GAC Chidambaram hostel offers amenities such as a hygienic dining hall, modern cooking system, solar water heating, and access to clean drinking water for female students.

GAC Chidambaram library is updated annually with new books, journals, and periodicals. Departments also maintain their own libraries for subject-specific resources. Students are encouraged to make use of both departmental and general library collections for academic enrichment.

GAC Chidambaram sports activities are overseen by Dr. N. Santhi from the Chemistry department. Students can participate in football, volleyball, badminton, athletics, Koko, Kabadi, and cricket. The PED room is equipped with a treadmill and exercise bike for fitness.

GAC Chidambaram offers robust IT infrastructure to support students’ academic needs. The college ensures computer access and digital tools that enhance the learning environment. The setup helps students engage with technology-driven learning effectively.

The college includes an open auditorium that serves as a venue for academic events, seminars, and cultural programmes. This space provides students with opportunities to participate in extracurricular and intellectual activities throughout the academic year.

GAC Chidambaram offers well-maintained department-specific laboratories. These labs are equipped with essential tools and equipment to support practical learning in science and other technical subjects. Students gain hands-on experience as part of their academic training.
