Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar

The College provides a suitable hostel facility with a proper mess for students from far-flung areas. It accommodates over 250 students with 3-4 students adjusted per room. The hostel rooms are provided with all the comforts necessary for the students. A recreation hall cum indoor games facility has been recently introduced in the hostel.

The college is located in the heart of the academic complex and is easily accessible to all the students. It is well equipped with a collection of above 50,000 books comprising Text Books, Reference Books, General Books, Literary Books, Periodicals, and Journals. It is subscribing to nearly all leading newspapers. The library is open all working days during working hours. 

The college has well-equipped Modern Laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Home Science, Food Science, Psychology, Geography, Statistics, Music, and Biotechnology. All the equipment related to undergraduate practicals is available.

The college has an Excellent IT infrastructure facility for all the students. College management has also provided a computer facility, which is a must in this modern age. The college has a net surfing facility, and the College imparts Quality Education using modern teaching methods and audiovisual aids. A Sify Cyber Café is also available in the Physics Department for the students to access the Internet facility at a discounted price.

The college has Adequate canteen facility is also available in college. The canteen provides eatables at reasonable rates in most clean and hygienic conditions as obligatory under the health laws. The canteen is run by a contractor, and the Food Court is managed and monitored by the Department of Food Sciences, the Department of Home Science, and Students. A Nescafé Counter is also established in the College premises to cater to the needs of the students. 

The college has a fully air-conditioned auditorium with 750 seating capacities and is equipped with modern facilities for conducting various programs, seminars, conferences, debates, cultural items, plays, etc. It is available to any Govt. & Non-Govt. Organization of terms and conditions available with the college management for academic and cultural purposes.

The college has sufficient area and facilities for parking the vehicles of college staff and students.

The college has a Bus facility for students. Those who want to use this should fill out a separate form available in the college office.

The college has a vast playground for Cricket, Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball, and Handball. There is a Badminton Court and adequate provisions for table tennis. Each student is expected to play at least one game.

The college has a Gym facility for all the students.

The college has a dispensary for students and staff to provide First Aid in times of emergency and for minor troubles. The college dispensary is managed by a full-time trained Pharmacist during college hours.

The college has Xerox facility premises, and it is available to all the students and staff during office hours at subsidized rates. 

The college has good networking for the alumni association.

The college has a Smart classroom facility for teachers, guest lecturers, and students.

The College has a present education system that demands that the students coming out of college have a clear idea of the career they want to adopt. In this context, throughout the year, various lectures are arranged for the students to pick a suitable career option for themselves. Various agencies like AHA, NIIT, NAMED, Air Force, etc. have launched awareness camps along with interactive sessions in the college. We are proud to announce that two of our students were placed in Adlabs and two in Jet Airways after their graduation. 15 undergraduate students were selected by WIPRO in an on-campus selection. Two students were placed in GENPAC.

The College has a Book club that offers a platform for literary activities for the staff and students to voice their ideas and views.

Different Clubs of this College remained active throughout the year by organizing various activities to generate awareness about social issues in society and inspire the students to come up with new ideas and ideologies to remove evils and bring reforms.

The purpose of the Science Club is to promote interest, understanding, and knowledge of the scientific world. The activities of this Club impart confidence in the minds of the participants, which results in the ultimate academic excellence of students. It also updates students regarding the newer concepts and innovative skills in the field of science. 

Red Ribbon 

Red Ribbon is the International symbol of HIV and AIDS Awareness. The Red Ribbon offers a symbol of hope and support for those living with HIV and AIDS. The main objective of the RED Ribbon Club is to encourage students to take up various activities such as – Awareness Programmes on AIDS, Voluntary Blood Donation, Poster making/ Slogan Writing competitions/ Skits, Declamation contests, Essay writing competitions, Quiz, etc., for the awareness of the general public. 

_{Language And Literary Club}

The avowed aim of this club is to bring out the literary talent of the students. The club conducts essay, short story, debating, speech, and drama competitions.

_{Nature / Eco Club}

A Nature / Eco Club is functioning in the college to create awareness among Students, Teachers, and the Public at large and to develop an infrastructure for effective Environmental Education at the grassroots level. The Club also plants various types of trees within the college premises to pay back to Mother Nature. 

The college has a boys’ hostel facility, which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.

The college provides good classroom facilities.

The college has a guest house/waiting room facility for visiting faculty and Student family members.

The college also provides workshop facilities for all the students.

The college also offers extracurricular activities such as NSS and NCC.
