Government First Grade College, Shimoga

The college has a very good library. The Reading Room is a part of the library with about fifty seating capacity. There are 30277 books in the library.15 Journals and s Magazines are subscribed. The library is automated and the readers can participate in resource sharing networks like inflibnet and get themselves access to e-sources & e-journals.

The college has been giving maximum encouragement to sports activities. Both girls and boys have been given equal opportunity to participate in all the sports activities. The institution is very proud of the women's wrestling team, which are the champions for four consecutive years. Our institution has been hosting a number of University level tournaments every year.

The college has 12 ICT-enabled classrooms. Gnanasangama scheme is implemented in the college. Smart classroom teaching is used as a tool for e-content reference and laptop provided for college faculty.

The College has a good networking for the alumni association.

The college has well-equipped laboratories for Computer Science, BCA, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, and Zoology. The laboratories are also equipped with the latest equipment with ICT facilities.

There is an auditorium in the Science building that can accommodate about 300 audiences to conduct various college activities.

It is run by a contractor and supervised by the canteen committee consisting of teachers and students Union. The college canteen serves as an eating and meeting place for students.
