Government Polytechnic College, Chelakkara

The college recognized the potential of the library in providing information services to meet the requirements of student’s academic programs as well as to cater to the teaching fraternity, the library was set up as one of the key divisions of the Govt. Polytechnic College Chelakkara, Thrissur. Since then, it has been acting as the main information and learning resource center of the college. The library has a rich collection of Text and Reference books. Additional books are being constantly procured and added. The Book Bank section is also functioning under a separate government scheme in the library for the benefit of the SC/ST students. The library will be open on all working days. Books are arranged in a subject-wise manner and the classification scheme used for this purpose is Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC). 

The college has sports facilities for all students.

The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

The college has a Laboratories Facility. Well-equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment and Pentium IV Computers. There are Electronics Laboratories and Mechanical Laboratories. Computer Laboratories etc.

The college has a well-equipped Gym facility for the students.

The college has a canteen facility for staff and students.

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.

The placement Cell of our Polytechnic is largely responsible and committed to the identification and catering to the needs of training of students so that they can develop a good personality; and assist them to find the right job and help them placed in the right companies before they pass out. We realize that to convert a raw student into an employable diploma holder, several behavioral attributes need to be addressed in addition to the development of technical skills. Some of the behavioral attributes are good communication skills, developing a positive attitude toward work, understanding of moral and ethical values, etc.

The college has good networking for the alumni association.

The college also provides extracurricular activities like NSS and NCC.

Bhoomithra Sena Club

Apart from their regular academic exercises, the students are engaged in agricultural and environmental-related activities, the students are involved in social missions through their “Bhoomithra Sena”. Social forestry, agriculture, and other ecology activities are their main focus.
