Government Women's Polytechnic College, Thrissur

The college has a Hostel facility provided to bonafide female students within the old hostel and MHRD(new) hostel with a total capacity of 140. The two hostels are located inside the campus. Spacious rooms, a clean mess hall, TV set with a cable connection are provided. Hostels are also provided with round-the-clock telephone and security facilities. One C-type staff quarters and G-type quarters are located inside the campus.

Magazines in technical and general areas are available. 9 technical journals every year caring for the needs of the three diploma programs of the college. The college has A playground designed to encourage students to participate in outdoor activities is available. This includes a 200 m tack, Ball badminton court, shuttle court Jumping pit, etc. Sports complexes including a Fitness center housing equipment and indoor table tennis facilities are also provided. 

The college has a central computing facility that started functioning in catering to the general computing needs, providing access to the network to students and staff serving as the focal point of computing resources. 

The college has good networking for the alumni association. 

The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students.

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.

The college has Books, Writing materials and other stationery are offered at subsidized rates. Reprographic facilities, Mentoring books, Continuousevaluation books, and Textbooks are all arranged through the cooperative store 

The college has a Career Guidance & Placement Cell of our Polytechnic is largely responsible and committed to the identification and catering to the needs of training students so that they can develop a good personality and assist in finding the right job and help them place in the right companies before they pass out. We realize that to convert a raw student into an employable diploma holder, several behavioral attributes need to be addressed in addition to the development of technical skills. Some of the behavioral attributes are good communication skills, developing a positive attitude toward work, understanding of moral and ethical values, etc. To accomplish this, the Placement Cell also conducts a Finishing School Training Program.

The college has a National Cadet Corps a premier youth organization and is the largest youth forum organized and equipped to train students to become useful citizens of the country for serving the Nation in their time of need. It persistently strives to mold the body and mind of our enterprising and enthusiastic student population. The nation spends a huge amount of money to maintain and train the students in the belief that the money spent for their development is an investment for the future.
