Hooghly Mohsin College, Chinsurah

The college has a boys’ hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.  Apart from hygienic foods and lodging, the hostel provides recreational facilities including TV, Common room. Reading room, Visitors’ room, Carrom Board, Cricket, football, indoor games and outdoor Badminton Court etc. 

The college has a separate building for the humanities and social sciences section with a modern auditorium.

The College has well-equipped laboratories with all the science departments. The Department of Zoology has a museum.

The College Library has number of books as on record was 9275 which now increases to 1,13,000 books from Govt. Grant, 3,500 books from UGC grant, 10,000 books of rare types. There are also donated books. The total collection includes approximately 2,000,00 books. There are some valuable and rare books in this library which may not be found anywhere in India. These books might be there only in British Library, London.

The College has a Computer facility available in almost all the science departments as well as in the library. Separate computer labs are present in the departments of Commerce, Mathematics, and Geology. Broadband internet facility is available in all the science departments and this facility is provided to the teachers and the students by the Central Library Computers.

The college has sports facilities for all students.

The College has two separate canteens, one for the students and the other one for the staff. Both the canteens are equipped with well-spaced seating arrangements. A variety of nutritious and hygienically prepared foods are available in the canteens at affordable prices. The canteens provide freshly cooked food items since the college is particularly careful about the health of the students and staff. An ample supply of fresh drinking water is always available in the canteens. 

The college has a good networking for the alumni association.

The College runs a well-equipped gym to cater to the needs of students. The main objective of the gym is to help the students develop more strength and stamina in terms of their health and other activities. The workout in the gym will enhance the overall development of the students as they will be exposed to many types of exercises to improve their fitness and endurance power. The basic aim of the gym is to give the students a change from their regular timetable of studies and classes. It helps them to acquire more sports skills and makes them shine brighter in the field.

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.

The college has a Career Counselling and Placement Cell this college has been functional for more than a decade. Education and learning culminating in successful degrees of graduation and post-graduation open up the student paths to new challenges. This committee ensures the students are prepared to meet the demands of the bigger world, professional, entrepreneurial, and research. A disciplined and systematic course of action is undertaken, wherein, renowned organizations like RICE, TIME, Anudip Foundation, Pune Institute of Business Management, and SEBI are invited at regular intervals to conduct seminars and webinars, workshops, placement training, recruitment tests, etc. Such events provide vital exposure to students about a range of professional openings, along with helping them to identify their individual flair with sessions of personalized guidance. Hooghly Mohsin College is a hallowed institution that has produced a swathe of illustrious personnel in diverse fields of profession and performance. This committee is a dedicated wing, orienting the students toward realizing their career goals.
