Q43

The equations 3x + 4y = 10 and -x + 2y = 0, have the solution (a, b). The value of a + b is:

A.
1
B.
2
C.
3
Answer
D.
4

Answer: Option C

Solution

Answer: Option C
Solution:
3x + 4y = 10 . . . . . . . (i)
-x + 2y = 0 . . . . . . . (ii)
On solving both the equation
3(2y) + 4y = 10
10y = 10
y = 1
∴ x = 2 × 1 = 2
∴ Solution (a, b) = (2, 1)
∴ a + b = 2 + 1 = 3
