Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Jammu

The university has a boys’ hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students. Excellent hostel facilities are available on the campus for boys. The hostel with a homely environment, well furnished and well-ventilated rooms, is located in an eco-friendly, pollution-free scenic setting on a flat stretch of land vanishing into the ascendant chain of-of pine-covered hills with a gurgling and foaming brook in the front. Facilities, like a computer room with internet connectivity, 24 hrs power supply, indoor games, common room, canteen service, water cooler with purifier, etc are the other features of the hostel. The hostel mess is clean and economical.

The University has a girls' hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students. Fatima Zahara Hall for Girls is a resident Hall for Full-Time postgraduate students and research scholars of BGSB University. It is located on the main campus of the University. It is one of the oldest Girls' halls in the University. It provides a comfortable, congenial, and homely environment in the resident's Hall. For internal administration and day-to-day discipline, the warden assists the provost. Elegantly designed and surrounded by lawns and flower beds. The common room attached to it provides a moment of leisure. Apart from these, a dining Hall is maintained hygienically for students to enjoy their meals.

The University has a health center with a first aid facility for the students. The Univesity Health Centre was established to promote the physical, mental & social well-being of the students of the BGSBU university. Health checkups of every staff/Student residing on the campus are made on a routine basis. The staff of the University Health Centre (UHC) comprises of Medical Officer and Staff Nurse, Pharmacists, a Senior Technical Assistant, Technical Assistants, a Lab Technician, and other support staff functions under the overall supervision and administrative control of the University. Two Ambulance is available at the Health Centre for 24 hrs. Medical Staff is also available at night from 9 pm to 8 am on a rotation basis with the ambulance. Mobile numbers to contact the ambulance in an emergency are also printed on the O.P.D cards/Medical Booklets.

The university has a Central Library, BGSBU works under the supervision of the Library Advisory Committee of Which the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor is the chairman. The library as of date stands divided into twelve sections viz. Circulation, Acquisition, Classification, Cataloguing, Periodical, Internet Lab, Reference and information services, Stack Area, Reading Room, Newspapers and Magazines, Digital Documents, and Thesis Section. The Library remains open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm throughout the year and observes a holiday on four national holidays and the second and fourth Sunday of every month. With the view to provide library services to students and faculty in their respective departments, departmental libraries have been created in the college of engineering and technology and the center for Biodiversity Studies. on similar lines, some more departmental libraries will be created in the near future.

The university has a sports facility for all the students. sports competition in events viz. Judo Men's team at Pune, Volleyball Men's Team at Bundelkhand University at Bareilly (UP) & Table Tanis Men's Team at National (Uttarakhand) Through such participation in sports events not only the players get exposure to the outside world and other educational institutions but bring name and fame to the Institution. Athletics for Men and Women both, Football, Cricket for Men, Badminton, Chess, Carron, Table Tennis Both Men & Women Category.

The university has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students. All teaching departments are equipped with Internet facilities which enables University teachers and scholars, to keep abreast with the latest developments in their respective fields of specialization. 

The university has a cafeteria facility Inside the sprawling campus of BGSBU University, there are four cafeterias/Canteens that function well to serve the students and staff members. The administration of this cafeteria is given to experienced, proficient, and committed contractors. All these cafeterias are open on all working days. Besides, they provide food at a very nominal price. The main canteen/cafeteria is housed in a separate sophisticated block near the entrance of the campus. For the convenience of the students and staff, one cafeteria in the vicinity of the management studies is being monitored by the School of Management Studies for the best quality food and services.

The University has a good number of buses which are made available to the students and faculty members for commuting from various points in the city and also from the suburbs to the campus and back. All students should make use of the Univesity Transport or should stay in the hostel. This facility has made it possible to start classes on time and thereby helping the academic process. The bus facilities have enabled us to maintain discipline among students.

The university has recently opened a fully functional fully equipped and spacious GYM center. The gymnasium is equipped with abundant state of art fitness equipment. Also, proper training and guidance are provided to newcomers to help them build a nice and symmetrical physique without injuring or straining themselves. The gym center opens at 7 am in the morning and closes at 9 pm in the evening offering flexibility in the selection of workout timings for staff and students. Continuous maintenance and upgrading are done to the center on regular basis.

The University has decided banking facility within the campus provided by J&K Bank, which is operating in an independent building. The Bank has opened an ATM within the University Campus. The bank provides some facilities like a savings account, RD account, Student Loan, Laptop Loan Facility, etc.

The University has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

The University has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students.

The University has guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members. The university has 2 guest houses, one each at Jammu and Rajouri. While the first two cater to the faculty and University guests in transit, the one at the Campus is used as the Visitor's lodge. The construction of one VVIP Guest House is in progress and shall be ready soon. 

The University has good networking for the alumni association.

The University has a workshop facility for all students.

The University has made training and placement integral parts of its educational programs. For this purpose the University has fulfilled a Placement Cell with a Training Placement Officer who organizes training activities around the year, coordinates with the corporate sector, prepares prospective job - seekers, and facilitates Campus selection. Realizing the role the Placement Cell has been playing in making our product industry-ready and employable, the University is trying to expand and upgrade it to the Centre for Employability Skills Development, with the long-term aim of raising it into the Skills Capital of Jammu & Kashmir. To make them employable students are imparted requisite knowledge in the area of their specialization, necessary skills, and right aptitude (KSA). They acquire knowledge through a formal teaching-learning process. Skills and aptitude are honed by professionals in skills development. The budding professionals are helped to become clear, correct, and confident in their oral and written communication.

The hilly terrain of the campus provides an ideal setting for trekking, hiking, rock climbing, and allied activities. For overall personality development, students' participation in quiz programs, singing, mimicry, debates, poetry recitation, and similar other activities is encouraged. The University has a playground and dedicated student center and a Gym with provisions for outdoor and indoor games.

The Campus shopping mall called the 'Sab Rang Square', and the multi-purpose Student’s Amenities Centre meet the routine requirements of resident students, at reasonable rates.
