Shivaji College, Delhi

The World University Service (WUS) Health Centre is a part of Shivaji College facilities. WUS Health Centre assists students and staff members in emergency health situations and provides them with primary medical care, as it also caters to the teaching and non-teaching community. Shivaji College facilities include a medical support unit that provides medical benefits to students and teachers at a minimal rate of Rs 120 per year. Shivaji College Delhi medical support unit provides emergency services, free consultation, and free medical benefits as students have to fill in a form and get a health card made.

Shivaji College facilities include a library that has over 1,00,000 books of different disciplines. The library subscribes to various magazines and newspapers and a huge collection of diverse reference works such as encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries, and yearbooks. The library gives access to a large number of e-journals, which are about 6000 e-journals and 97000 e-books.  Other facilities including braille kits for students with disabilities, CDs and over two hundred books in Braille are there in the college.

Shivaji College Sports facilities have one of the largest sports fields among all of the DU colleges. Shivaji College facilities provide sports equipment to students for games like cricket, football, basketball, table tennis, athletics, softball, and baseball, which are practised regularly on the sports ground. The Shivaji College sports teams participate in different inter-college and inter-university tournaments. Other Shivaji College facilities include changing rooms, and storerooms for the students in the college.

There is a separate room with computers, a scanner, printer, and Daisy player (reader) in the college for PWD students. Laptops with MBDA Software are available in the College Library for visually challenged students. There are 286 Braille books and CDs on various subjects for the students in the college library. The library is also equipped with software LEX that can scan a book and convert it into Braille and vice-versa. An I-pod, a tape recorder, and a photocopy facility have also been provided at the disposal of the visually challenged students.

Shivaji College facilities include a cafeteria, which is the most popular space among the students to hang out and discuss assignments and projects. Shivaji College facilities include a canteen which provides hygienic food at affordable prices and makes the canteen the most frequently visited place. In Shivaji College, the use of plastic cups and plates is restricted.

Shivaji College facilities and infrastructure consist of a central auditorium. The auditorium is well-equipped with audio-visual systems and stage lighting arrangements with a seating capacity of 400 people. Shivaji College’s auditorium has a ramp to aid people who are orthopedically challenged. Every year different cultural and educational programmes, events, seminars, debates, plays, film screenings, and departmental programmes are held in the college auditorium.

The Alumni Club of Shivaji College was formed in 1992. Former and present students join hands in expressing their gratitude to Shivaji College and work towards the development of the college. The alumni of Shivaji contribute to the corporate life and the well-being of the college in many ways. The members also sponsor awards and scholarships to meritorious students. Many of the alumni are very successful and well-placed in various fields. Alumni with major contributions toward the Alumni Club and Shivaji College have been designated the 'Diamond' status within the organisation.

Shivaji College facilities and infrastructure include laboratory facilities that are modern, well-equipped, and efficiently managed laboratories for all science students. There are about four air-conditioned computer laboratories which provide access to software and high-speed internet to the students and staff members. Modern digitised classrooms which are well equipped with projectors are a part of Shivaji College facilities which assist in an audio-visual mode of teaching.

Shivaji College facilities and infrastructure include a branch of the Central Bank of India inside the campus where the staff and students are encouraged to open accounts and avail of other banking services. Shivaji College staff members and students avail banking facilities not only for the college transactional purposes but they can also maintain their accounts for other personal uses too.
