St John's College, Palayamkottai

The College a History of SJC Library begins from its origin in 1878. The SJC Library, for the most part, takes into account the requirements of the students and staff of the College. The Library was significantly expanded by the liberal blessing from Bishop Western’s Library in 1939. Another enhancement was made in 1946. Daniel Thomas, a graduate of SJC, exhibited more than one thousand significant books from his own collection to the library. In 1960, the new library structures were built with the heavenly gift from the UGC’s aid of One Lakh rupees. The present Accession Register was introduced that year. The Library can accommodate more than 180 students at any given moment. It is furnished with a wideband Internet likewise Open Access System is being pursued.

The college has sports facilities for all students. The department is equipped well with good infrastructure and modern equipment, and includes activities like Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Kabbadi, Badminton, Weight lifting, and Rifle Shooting. Apart from these, yoga is given special attention. Students are encouraged to utilize the facilities of the department and take part in day-to-day activities.

The College hostel, situated on the College campus, accommodates only male students who need hostel accommodation.

Students willing to join the hostel must apply separately for admission to the hostel. Application forms can be obtained from the College Management Office.  

Sharon Hall is the hostel for women students.

The College has a Spacious Canteen. The canteen serves refreshments, breakfast, and Lunch at affordable prices. It is of immense help for the day scholars who come from long distances. Students can visit the canteen during their free time to refresh themselves. The canteen remains open on all working days.

The college has guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members.

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.

The college has a Club facility for all students.

The college has a Banking facility for all students.

The college has Motive of the placement cell is to act as a facilitator to arrange campus visits and coordinate the recruitment process of the prospective employers of graduating students of the college.
