Central Instrumentation Facility Laboratory (CIFL) The Central Instrumentation Facility Laboratory (CIFL) of NIUM houses necessary equipment and basic infrastructure required to carry out quality research in the field of Unani Medicine. It is Common for all the departments of the Institute. Presently, it is used for research activities of the institute and help in the identification, standardisation and quality control of Unani drugs and also in clinical and experimental studies. This Laboratory has HPLC, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, Microwave digestion system, UV/VIS Spectrometer and other basic equipment required for routine works Pharmacology Laboratory The purpose of establishment of Pharmacology laboratory is to carry out experimental work on laboratory animals and to promote evidence-based research on herbal drugs including efficacy and toxicity which would, later on, pave the way for safer trials of these experimentally tested drugs in human beings. The laboratory has a polarising microscope with cameras, Rotarod apparatus, Activity meter apparatus, Radial Maze, Plus Maiz etc. Quality Control Laboratory This laboratory is established to bring out research in Unani Pharmaceutical products. The main motive of this laboratory is to check and direct the degree and grade of excellence of processes and products, production of medicines of superior quality to assure physicians, and consumers. This laboratory also helps in the quality control of compound formulations prepared in the pharmacy of the institute and the drugs for experimental studies and to provide best facilities to the students and researchers to improve the standard of various Unani dosage forms. The above laboratories are attached to academic departments. 4. Drug standardisation Laboratory This laboratory is established to standardise Unani drugs. This laboratory also helps in the quality control of drugs for experimental studies and provides the best facilities to the students and researchers to improve the standard of various Unani drugs.
