Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai has a boys’ hostel which can accommodate 500 boys. In the REC Chennai boys’ hostel, single-room accommodation is given to the final year and PG students and they are also permitted to use their own computers in their own rooms. The mess in the hosel is spacious with a dining hall and a kitchen. Separate seating arrangements are provided for both boys and girls.

REC Chennai has a girls’ hostel on the campus that can accommodate 200 girls. Final year and PG students are provided with single-room accommodations in the REC Chennai girls' hostel and are also permitted to use their own computers in their own rooms. The mess in the REC Chennai hostel has a dining hall and a kitchen. Both boys and girls have separate seating arrangements.

REC Chennai has a well-equipped healthcare centre. Male and female students have separate inpatient facilities. The healthcare centre offers quality health care in a comfortable and confidential environment. The centre has 6 beds and a well-stocked medicine cabinet. The health centre is manned by a medical officer and a healthcare assistant who provide free medical care to all students, faculty, and staff. This medical facility also provides vaccinations and yearly check-ups.

Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai has a well-maintained library that has a wide range of textbooks, reference books, national and international journals in all branches. The open access system is followed in the library. The library has a separate periodicals section and subscribes to journals, including international, national, and electronic journals. The library receives journals and newsletters on a regular basis and it provides staff and students with the latest information in technical education, research, and development activities.

Students interested in Computer Assisted Learning can access online resources through the digital library. The college is an institutional member of the IE(I) library, the Anna University library, and the British Council Library, Chennai allowing staff and students to borrow books, journals, and video programmes not available in the institution. The REC Chennai library has a computerised Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) for searching books and CD-ROM availability. The library also offers photocopying services and a nominal fee is charged for photocopying services.

REC Chennai has indoor and outdoor sports facilities for students on the campus premises. The campus has 6000 square feet of indoor facilities for chess, carom, table tennis, volleyball and badminton and outdoor facilities for volleyball, football, tennis and ball badminton. To train the students, the college has two qualified Physical Education teachers.

Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai has a dedicated internet lab working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The students have free internet access at the college and have 1155 Mbps dedicated leased line internet access (1 Gbps from Tata and 155 Mbps from Vodafone Idea). The internet can be accessed from more than 1300 computers. REC Chennai has installed proprietary software in only a few labs to expose students and faculty to new technologies. 

All departments and HODs have access to the internet. The college has also provided free 24x7 Wi-Fi access throughout the campus (including hostels, cafeterias, seminar halls, and the auditorium) for students and faculty to access the internet from anywhere on campus. The campus intranet contains vital information such as test schedules, timetables, examination schedules, campus news, and a wealth of college information.

Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai has a fully operational vegetarian canteen that serves hygienically prepared food to staff and students. On campus, there is also a subsidised mess and also a separate mess has been provided for boys.

REC Chennai has a full-fledged transport department that functions in the college with buses to provide transport facilities to students and staff from various places. This service is provided to ensure hassle-free and safe transportation. The college operates 85 buses to transport students from various locations throughout the city. The number of buses will be increased in proportion to the increase in student enrollment.

Alumni Association is administered by an Alumni Committee. The alumni association is very active in promoting interactions and camaraderie among the alumni, staff and the management.
