Shaheed Darshan Singh Pheruman Memorial College for Women, Amritsar

The College has a well-furnished hostel building on the campus. The students from far and wide areas stay in the hostel to complete their studies. The hostel provides a congenial and healthy atmosphere to the students. They are served hygienic and nutritious food in the hostel mess. Parents can visit their wards with the prior permission of the hostel warden during visiting hours. A free hostel facility is provided to outstanding players.

The college has a sick room where First Aid is given to sick students.

The College has a spacious, well-equipped, and computerized library. To develop the reading habits of the students, the library plays an instrumental role. The library is updated every year. There are 15187 books, 28 magazines and journals, and 7 newspapers. Students are given the facility of the ‘Book Bank’. Almost 300 poor students take the facility of books for the whole session from the ‘Book Bank’ every year.

The students of the College hail from 108 surrounding villages, with a scarcity of transportation. Thus, students find it difficult to reach College on time. Keeping this in mind, the College provides a bus facility to the students dwelling in these remote areas. It helps them to lessen their hardships in pursuing the goal of higher education.

The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students.

The College has a Youth Welfare Club, which plays a vital role in channelizing the energy of the youth. It provides them with the platform to explore and exhibit their hidden talent along with their academic potential; it helps them to pave their way in the contemporary world of Globalization. The Club participates in the Hiking-Trekking Camp at Dalhousie and bags prizes in various events like poem-recitation, dancing, and singing, etc. The Club participates in the Youth Festival at Guru Nanak Dev  University (Amritsar) in various events: Shabad Gyan, Group Song, Folk-Song, Giddha, Skit, Mime, Fancy Dress, Phulkari, Vaar-Singing, Histrionics, Elocutions, Debate, Quiz Competitions, and bags the “Champion Trophy” in “B-Division” every year. Moreover, this Club participates in the Inter-College Competitions in various Colleges from time to time to make the students consistent competitors in this field.
